Introduction of "Institute of Data Science & Intelligent Decision"

"Institute of Data Science & Intelligent Decision" was established in 2019 based on "Key Laboratory of Artificial Intelligence & Data Science Applications" in School of Business and Management of Shanghai International Studies University. Our institute, aiming to face the strategic needs in line with the development of the big data industry in Shanghai and national, carry out research in the fields of information management and business decision-making that are conducive to sustainable social and business development and cutting-edge disciplines, and contribute to solving major scientific and technical problems in the field of information management and business decision. We are striving to become a high-level research institute in the field of intelligent decision-making based on big data. Combining research methods and tools in information science, operations research, statistics, user behavior, decision science and other aspects, based on business big data analytics, our institute aims to explore how to help decision makers in the business field to be more scientific, systematic and efficient while conducting decision making.

Our research team members have long been engaged in the research on the domains of artificial intelligence, data science as well as decision optimization, etc, who have published over 30 research papers in top and authoritative journals in China and abroad, such as INFORMS Journal on Computing, Decision Sciences, Decision Support Systems, Information Processing & Management, ACM Transactions on Knowledge Discovery from Data, "Management Science(in Chinese)", "Systems Engineering Theory and Practice (in Chinese)", etc. In the past five years, we have undertaken several important scientific research projects funded by the National Natural Science Fundation of China and the Beijing Social Science Fundation and our research achievements have been applied to well-known domestic enterprises such as China Mobile, China Telecom, dianping.com, etc.

• Head: Dr. Baojun MA, Professor

Prof. Baojun Ma is the professor, doctoral supervisor, head of department, Zhiyuan Distinguished Scholar of Department of Information Management & Decision Science, School of Business & Management, Shanghai International Studies University, and also the deputy director of the Artificial Intelligence and Data Science Application Lab. He obtained his bachelor's degree and doctor's degree in management from the School of Economics and Management of Tsinghua University in 2007 and 2013. In the past 5 years, he has published 11 SCI / SSCI indexed journal papers, presided over a sub-project of one key project funded by National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC), a NSFC general project, a NSFC youth project, and a Beijing Social Science Foundation project. His research interests focus on management information systems, business intelligence and big data analysis, e-commerce and mobile user behavior analysis, as wel as policy informatics. • Deputy Head: Dr. Mingyue ZHANG, Associate Professor

Dr. Mingyue Zhang is Associate Professor and Zhiyuan Young Scholar in School of Business & Management, Shanghai International Studies University. She received a bachelor's degree from Beijing Institute of Technology in 2012, a doctor's degree in management from Tsinghua University in 2017, and had been a visiting scholar at the University of Arizona. She has published a number of SCI/SSCI indexed journal papers in top authoritative journals such as Decision Sciences, ACM Transactions on Knowledge Discovery from Data (TKDD), Decision Support Systems, Information Sciences, and hosted a National Natural Science Foundation Youth project. Her main research areas are data mining, consumer behavior analysis, and analysis of incentive mechanisms under emerging business models. Dr. Hui Yuan is Assistant Professor in Department of Information Management and Decision Science, School of Business & Management, Shanghai International Studies University. She has obtained a bachelor's degree in information management and information systems and a master's degree in management science and engineering both from Renmin University of China. She obtained a doctor's degree in information systems from City University of Hong Kong. Dr. Yuan has published several academic papers in leading mainstream journals such as Annals of Operations Research, Decision Support Systems, etc. Her main research directions are social network analysis, big data analysis, financial technology and business intelligence. Dr. Yi Chen is Assistant Professor in Department of Information Management and Decision Science, School of Business & Management, Shanghai International Studies University. He received a Ph.D. degree in Information Systems in Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. His mainly engages in research on online communities, platforms, and social networks. Dr. Chen's relevant research is presented at the Annual Meeting of the Management Association (AOM 2016), the International Conference on Information Systems (ICIS 2017), and the Asia Pacific Information Systems Conference (PACIS 2018). He has been the reviewer for academic conferences (such as ICIS, AOM, AMCIS, etc.) and journals (such as Management Science and Information & Management).
